02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The charity is established to manage and operate the Lanthorn Centre on behalf of West Lothian Council, providing educational, recreational and community facilities for people living in the local area. We achieve this by offering affordable room hire for community groups, clubs and organisations, supporting learning and social activities, operating a community café that provides an accessible meeting place, and delivering the Lanthorn Food Project to assist individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. We also work in partnership with local organisations, volunteers and funding bodies to deliver services that reduce social isolation, promote community wellbeing and encourage participation in community life. Through these activities we aim to strengthen community connections and improve opportunities for local residents.
