02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The Society was formed to perpetuate the memory of John Buchan by bringing his achievements to the notice of the general public, and by seeking to promote a greater understanding of his life and works. The main activities undertaken in relation to the above objects are the publication of one learned journal yearly, regular newsletters, an annual dinner with an expert speaker on some aspect of John Buchan, his life and work, a biennial conference/symposium, a very active website for the promotion and marketing of his works, the production and distribution of publicly available podcasts, and the general promotion of a greater understanding and appreciation of John Buchan and his literary works, and his life.

Constitutional objectives
The objects of the Society shall be to perpetuate the memory of John Buchan by bringing his achievements to the notice of the general public, and by seeking to promote a greater understanding of his life and works. In pursuance of its objects, it shall be competent for the Society to raise and to hold funds. to seek fmancial aid from such sources as may be available. and to take any other action deemed appropriate for the furtherance of its aims and objects.
