02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
1st Gourock Scout Group provides young people aged 4 to 18 with opportunities to develop skills for life through fun, adventure and inclusive Scouting activities. Through our Squirrel, Beaver, Cub, Scout and Explorer sections, we offer a varied programme including outdoor adventures, camping, hiking, teamwork, community projects, creative activities and practical skills. Our dedicated adult volunteers deliver weekly meetings, camps and events in a safe, supportive environment where young people can build confidence, develop friendships, learn leadership skills and become active members of their communities. We aim to make Scouting accessible to all young people, regardless of background or ability, helping them reach their potential while making a positive contribution to Gourock and the surrounding area.
