02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Abernethy Trust works to see lives transformed through incredible outdoor experiences and adventure. We are a Christian charity that has three centres across Scotland and have been providing trusted school residentials, holidays, retreats, and adventures for over 50 years.

Constitutional objectives
4.1 The advancement of the Christian Faith through outdoor recreation in a Christian environment and atmosphere, the promotion of the tenets of the Christian Faith by the promotion and application of the Christian Faith in and through outdoor education and outdoor activities of all kinds. 4.2 The advancement of education by the operation of outdoor activities centres in Scotland and elsewhere providing recreational facilities and outdoor education for participation by and for all age groups (including, without prejudice to the foregoing generality, schools, universities, youth groups, church groups, organisations and families) through a wide range of outdoor activities. 4.3 The advancement of public participation in outdoor activities and sport through the promotion of and instruction in outdoor activities of all kinds. 4.4 The provision of recreational facilities and the organisation of recreational facilities with the object of improving health and the conditions of life for persons for whom the facilities or activities are provided to include the provision of facilities for the members of the local communities in which outdoor activities centres run by the Charity are situated. 4.5 The advancement of citizenship and community development by educating and encouraging people of all ages but particularly young people to take responsibility for their own physical wellbeing and, in turn, to promote the health and physical wellbeing of others. 4.6 The promotion of religious and racial harmony and the encouragement and acceptance of diversity in society.
