02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
We aim to raise funds for Aberdeen Archive, Gallery and Museums, stimulate interest in AAGM and other cultural activities in Aberdeen, arrange talks, previews and visits for our members, and network both with other arts organisations in the city and other Friends groups via the British Association of Friends of Museums. We also fund some AAGM-run projects, eg micro commissions awards.

Constitutional objectives
3. Objects The objects of FRIENDS OF ABERDEEN ARCHIVES, GALLERY AND MUSEUMS will be: a) To cultivate interest from the general public in and sponsorship of the activities of AAGM, whether these activities be artistic, educational, scientific, or such other projects or activities as AAGM may from time to time determine. b) To cultivate interest from the members in such other artistic exhibitions and events in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire that the Committee may from time to time decide. c) To arrange educational and social events consistent with the aims in 3a) and 3b) above. d) To raise funds in such manner as the Committee shall determine, including seeking contributions by means of membership fees, public donations or other appeals, or any other appropriate means, with a view to assisting AAGM. Such funds to be kept in a specially designated account in the name of THE FRIENDS. e) To make purchases or grants towards purchases by and/or for the Gallery as may be agreed by the Committee or an authorised sub-committee thereof. f) To apply the funds of THE FRIENDS for any purpose which the Committee deems consistent with the objects of THE FRIENDS. g) To engage in any other lawful activities to promote the forgoing objects.
