02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The objects of Lochend Neighbourhood Centre are to relieve poverty, to preserve and protect the physical and mental health, and to enhance the education of people aged 60 years or over and their carers living within the North East of Edinburgh with a view of improving the quality and conditions of their lives and enabling them to participate fully in all aspect of the life of their community. The activities undertaken in furtherance of the objects are: Day care service providing support to older people, 65 years and over, who have an assessed need in line with the Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnerships eligibility criteria. Our service extends beyond that of supporting members, to supporting carers and relatives who not only require a break from their caring role but emotional and practical assistance too. Support to carers is delivered at a time and method suitable to them i.e. face to face, telephone, text or email
