02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The Trust Disposition and settlement of Mrs Isabella Wilson or Peter of Letham Angus was registered at the Public Records of Scotland on 7 April 1944. The last of eleven bequests, creates a fund to be called 'The Wilson & Peter Bequest', the income from which is to be distributed to 'necessitous women connected by birth, upbringing or residence within the County of Angus of the City of Glasgow.' This trust has traditionally been managed by office bearers from the local Church. Due to increasing difficulties in identifying relevant beneficiaries who met this criteria, extensive communication was undertaken with the Church of Scotland Law Department in 2014, as a result of which it was approved that Angus Women's Aid and the CrossReach Bluebell Post Natal Depression Service in Glasgow were suitable recipients. Awards are made to these two organisations on an alternate annual basis.
