02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The Charity exists to glorify God and to advance Christ's Kingdom, primarily through services twice on Sundays, as well as a Sunday Club for youngsters, plus a midweek service. Special family services are held at festive times, such as Easter and Christmas. Against a backdrop of the most significant structural changes faced by the Church in nearly 100 years, congregations such as Uig continue to make a positive impact on the community it serves. A ‘Hope and Wellbeing’ Hub is run from the Church with the aim of providing for the holistic wellbeing of everyone in Uig. This encompasses a baby bank, art workshops, growing spaces, therapy events, fund raising for good causes, plus ladies' and men's fellowship gatherings. It is part of the ‘social capital’ of the area, the aggregate value of different types of social connections and networks that exist.
