What the charity exists to do
It is set up to help prevent or relieve poverty, assist in the advancement of education and the advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science. To these ends the charity made payments to beneficiaries, awarded education grants to students and donated to educational projects run by the Trades House of Glasgow and a medical charity.

Constitutional objectives
The property and funds of the Incorporation shall, after payment of all expenses of management and of defending the rights of the Incorporation, be held exclusively for purposes of a strictly benevolent nature pertaining to the advantage of the needy members, their widows and widowers and children, and the maintenance and education of children of members or deceased members.
