Lesmahagow Parish Historical Association

Constitutional objectives

The principle aim of the Association shall be to promote and encourage the following aims by charitable means, but not otherwise. (a) To locate, examine, record and preserve all documentary evidence concerning the History of Lesmahagow Parish. (b) To gather and record information from Organisations, Companies Traders etc., who are currently active in Lesmahagow Parish. (c) To compile a Historical Archive via articles (a) and (b), consisting of documents, printed and in manuscript form, maps and plans, photographs, slides, films and also by means of Audio and Video Recordings. (d) To campaign for the preservation and/or excavation of any structure having a Historical significance to the Parish of Lesmahagow. (e) To seek out artefacts which have been documented in the past but have since become lost. (f) To record all known artefacts found in the Parish of Lesmahagow, found, or brought to the attention of the Association. (g) To make avaliable to all interested parties the content of the Association's Archive under the supervision of the Archivist. To promote the work of the Association by giving lectures and organising document displays for the perusal of the general public. To offer advice and assistance to all enquirers.
