02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Historylinks is an independent museum with the mission 'To Keep the Dornoch Story Alive'. We research and exhibit many aspects of the history and culture of Dornoch. geological, archaeological and social. We offer a wide range of heritage activities, talks and tours for the local community and for visitors to Dornoch with a view to making the enjoyment and learning from heritage accessible to all. We have developed an on line archive which is well used by students, academics and the wider public from many parts of the world.

4. The organisation is formed to benefit the community of Dornoch as defined by the Royal Mail, all postcodes within the IV25 postcode sector. 5. The organisation’s main purposes are: 5.1. The advancement of education relating to the history of Dornoch (and adjoining areas of the Highlands if relevant). 5.2. The advancement of heritage and culture relating to Dornoch (and adjoining areas of the Highlands if relevant). 5.3. The maintenance of a museum in Dornoch to make the above heritage accessible for all to enjoy. 5.4. To promote community engagement and to encourage heritage research within the community.
