Constitutional objectives
The Income of the Residue when available and as set free by the death of Annuitants or forfeiture I direct my Trustees year by year to apply for the benefit of poor respectable and deserving persons old and young, and legitimate or illegitimate by giving them money or providing comforts or paying their rent or assisting deserving needful boys and girls in getting through their apprenticeship or giving them a start in life, but only those who have some connection with Dumfries or Maxwelltown by parentage or residence shall be entitled to benefit, or my Trustees may make annual Donations to Benevolent or Charitable Institutions or Societies in Dumfries or Maxwelltown, and subject to the above my Trustees for the time being shall be the sole and undisputed Judges of who and what are to benefit and of the way and manner in which the money is to be applied.
