02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Through it’s grant-making programme, the Trust helps young (and occasionally not-so-young) Scots who show exceptional promise to benefit from the transformative power of international education. We focus on those who show the potential to benefit from such an experience and in turn share those rewards with others, but who face financial obstacles in doing so.

Constitutional objectives

The primary and principal objects of the Trust are the advancement of education for the public benefit, and the provision of facilities for recreation and other leisure-time occupations, such facilities being provided in the interests of social welfare and to assist, support or maintain, financially or otherwise, or to establish bodies corporate or incorporate or trusts, the objects of which are exclusively charitable, and to apply the property and income of the Trust for the purposes which the Law regards as charitable and in such a manner that any other objects powers and provisions referred to in this Constitution shall be deemed to be governed by the primary and principal objects above referred to, and that notwithstanding anything to the contrary hereinafter expressed or implied.
