02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
We provide support to the publishing & literary sector in Scotland and promote Scottish culture in the UK and overseas. We hold events, design & deliver training, provide funding and access to international book fairs and events that would otherwise be beyond the reach of many Scottish Publishers. We provide translation grants and travel grants to Scottish writers. We are also engaged in widening access to employment in the creative industries and promoting greater environmental awareness and sustainability.

Constitutional objectives
The objects of the Association shall be:- To promote, maintain, improve and advance public education and to stimulate and educate the public interest in the Arts for the benefit of the community by fostering the growth of publishing in Scotland, whether in premises owned or leased by the Association or elsewhere, provided that all the objects of the Association shall be exclusively charitable.
