02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Friends of Insch Hospital is a local charity established to support the health and wellbeing of people in Insch and the surrounding area. Since the closure of inpatient services at Insch War Memorial Hospital in 2020, our main objective has been to campaign for the reinstatement of these much-valued local healthcare services and to ensure that the needs of our community continue to be represented. In addition to our campaigning work, we run the Friends Wednesday Club, a weekly dementia support group that provides social interaction, activities and companionship for people living with dementia and their carers. We also raise funds through donations, grants and community events to support initiatives that improve quality of life for older people and others in need, including projects such as our “Cycling Without Age” trishaw. All of our work is delivered by local volunteers for the benefit of the wider community.
