02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The role of the Bressay Public Hall Committee is to run and maintain our Community Hall. The Hall should be kept in good condition, fully insured and financially viable and be available for hire to anyone residing in Bressay, and those providing a service or form of entertainment in Bressay. Members of the Bressay Public Hall Committee (all volunteers) will endeavor to assist hirers wherever possible, this could include providing Hall volunteers to assist with tasks which could include: setting up prior to an event, providing catering, providing a bar, cleaning, assisting with event planning etc. Bressay Public Hall Committee also aim, where possible, to undertake activities of their own to either raise money towards Hall funds or provide social opportunities for Bressay residents.

Constitutional objectives

The said subjects and the building erected or to be erected thereon (hereinafter referred to as 'The Trust subjects') are dedicated and shall be held by us and our successors as Trustees in all time coming for the purpose of physical and mental training and recreation, and social, moral and intellectual development through the medium of reading and recreation rooms, library, lectures, classes, recreation or otherwise as may be found expedient of the inhabitants of the island of Bressay, in the County of Zetland, without distinction of sex or of political, religious or other opinions subject to the provisions of these presents.
