02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
provide both inpatient and outpatient specialist Palliative Care and support to patients and families across Lanarkshire. In addition to provide bereavement support to families and education to health and social care professionals.

Constitutional objectives
The objects of the Charity (the “Objects”) are the relief of sickness and disability in furtherance of the aims, charism and ethos of the Religious Sisters of Charity (“the Congregation”) and of any Mission Statement of St Andrew’s Hospice which may from time to time be approved by the Members, in particular by: 3.1.1 the provision of palliative, nursing, medical, and other care services for those in need at St Andrew’s Hospice or at any other facilities or in the homes of patients. 3.1.2 the provision of pastoral care services for the spiritual welfare and support of patients, relatives and staff. 3.1.3 the provision of education and research into any aspect of the care of sick or disabled people or of the service provided by St Andrew’s Hospice or at any other facilities. 3.1.4 the provision of services to members of the Congregation who are in need. 3.2 Nothing in these Articles shall authorise an application of the property of the Charity for purposes which are not charitable in accordance with section 7 of the 2005 Act. 3.3 This provision may be amended by special resolution but only with the prior written consent of the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator.
