02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Caithness Agricultural Society exists to promote and support agriculture, rural life and the wider farming community in Caithness. At the heart of our work is the annual Caithness Show, which has brought the community together since 1830. The Show provides an opportunity for farmers, crofters, equestrians, producers and members of the community to showcase livestock, skills and local produce through competitions, exhibitions and demonstrations. It also helps connect the public with agriculture, giving people of all ages the opportunity to learn more about farming, food production and rural traditions. We work with local businesses, community groups, volunteers and agricultural organisations to deliver an accessible and enjoyable event that celebrates Caithness, supports local enterprise and helps ensure our agricultural heritage and rural skills continue to be valued and shared with future generations.
