02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Breasclete Community Association was formed over 35 years ago, being constituted in its current form in 2001. The Association is comprised of volunteers and manages the affairs of the community on behalf of all residents and local clubs. This includes managing the community centre and its environs, meeting the social and recreational needs of the community by providing and developing appropriate facilities and services. It provides and maintains services such as meeting rooms, offices space, sports hall & equipment, dedicated gym, commercial specification kitchen & dining area, playarea, ITC & library, music room, PE facilities, gym and pre-school building. The local primary school also use the centre for various educational and recreational activities. There are a number of regular clubs such as youth clubs, historical society, senior citizens, bowls, whist, Gaelic classes, and is a venue for various fundraising activities, major functions, concerts, weddings, and local events.

Constitutional objectives
The objects of the Company are: (i) To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Breasclete and its environs without distinction of sex or of political, religious or other opinions by associating with the local statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education, to provide facilities, in the interest of social welfare for recreation and other leisure-time occupation so that their conditions of life may be improved. and (ii) To secure the establishment, maintenance and management of a Community Centre (hereinafter called 'The Centre') for activities promoted by the company and its members in furtherance of the above objects or any of them.
