02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The Lyceum is a charity established to provide public benefit as Edinburgh's principal producing theatre with a mission to create and present extraordinary theatre for the people of Edinburgh and the world by telling life enhancing stories, engaging our communities and bringing people together. we produce or own season of work either on our own or co-produced with other partners. this programme of work is enhance by a range of other visiting productions, and one off performances from a range of artists including comedians, writers and other performers. We have a range of participatory and engagement programmes which include our long-running Lyceum Youth Theatre and our 60+ programme. In addition to the work we producing in Edinburgh we tour our productions to other parts of the UK and when the opportunity arises we tour internationally as well.

Constitutional objectives
The Company is established for Charitable Purposes only. In particular, the Company is established to provide public benefit in Scotland and elsewhere and to promote, maintain, improve and advance education, appreciation and understanding of the performing arts, and in particular the art of drama in all its aspects, by the production and presentation of plays, educational, theatrical and musical performances, with particular emphasis on works produced by the Company or commissioned by third parties.
