02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Assembly Theatre exists to promote, develop and support performing arts and artists. It does this via Assembly Roxy, a unique arts centre with three performance spaces that can be used for theatre, dance, spoken word, circus, music and more. 2025 will see the return of many of Edinburgh's festivals including the International Children's Theatre Festival, whom we are co-producing a piece with in collaboration with Imaginate, National Theatre of Scotland and Catherine Wheels Theatre Company. Also returning will be events as part of the Edinburgh Fringe and Edinburgh's Hogmanay as well as our supporting the grassroots arts in the city through our continued support through the ART Award in partnership with Assembly Festival. Arts events in the building are supported by commercial hires, where income generated is used to ensure the charity remains accessible for artists throughout the year.
