02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Assembly Theatre exists to promote, develop and support performing arts and artists. It does this via Assembly Roxy, a unique arts centre with three performance spaces that can be used for theatre, dance, spoken word, circus, music and more. 2025 will see the return of many of Edinburgh's festivals including the International Children's Theatre Festival, Lighthouse Books with their Radical Book Fair. Also returning will be events as part of the Edinburgh Fringe and Edinburgh's Hogmanay as well as our supporting the grassroots arts in the city through our continued support through the ART Award as well as partnering with EPAD (Edinburgh Performing Arts Development) with an artist residency.

Constitutional objectives
The Company is established to promote and advance education by the production of educational plays and particularly by the production and touring of new plays and also for the encouragement of Arts, including the arts of drama, mime, dance, singing and music and to formulate, prepare and establish schemes therefore with special reference to the Arts in Scotland both nationally and locally provided that all objects of the Company shall be of a charitable nature.
