02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Stewarton and District Historical Society Main items from the Historical Society are the Museum now held in the Stewarton Area Centre, and the and the monthly talks held in the Lesser Hall also part of the Stewarton Area Centre. All the Historical Society staff are are volunteers. The Museum displays a range of exhibits (both temporary and Permanent) which bring to life social life the social history of Dunlop, Fenwick, Kilmaurs and Stewarton. Local history is a powerful tool in the construction of identity. Written or spoken stories make the connection for people to their chosen area and the ability to be able to view images of previous generations is invaluable to cement this connection. We have a plethora of photographs covering all sorts of subjects and our museum volunteers will gladly help your search, just ask, they are there for you.
