02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
To promote the enjoyment of choral music for both singers and audience members alike, ERCU puts on a number of concerts every year, including an annual New Year performance of Messiah in the Usher Hall. ERCU aims to deliver a diverse musical programme, occasionally commissioning new pieces. We also have choral music scores available for hire to other choirs.

Constitutional objectives
The Company is established for charitable objects and purposes only. In particular, the Company is established to advance public education by the encouragement of the performing arts, including without limiting the foregoing, the art of music in general and the art of choral music in particular by the study, practice and performance of music to the highest standard and to encourage others in similar pursuits.
