02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Studio Moffat was established in 1988 as Moffat Youth Theatre, to give young people meaningful access to high-quality creative experiences and to build their confidence, self-esteem and emotional intelligence. For over three decades Moffat Youth Theatre supported young people to develop skills, confidence, and wellbeing through participation in drama and the wider performing arts. In 2024, we renamed the charity to Studio Moffat to reflect our intention to broaden the scope of our work - still to focus on creativity, confidence and connection, but to make activities and events available to those over the age of 25, though our particular focus remains on those aged 15–30. We deliver workshops, classes, performances and collaborative projects led by professional practitioners, providing a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for creative growth. We also work with aligned community organisations to offer the space as a vibrant, accessible creative hub for the whole community.
