02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
To relieve the needs of people who have learning difficulties and/or learning disabilities and/or mental health issues, and in furtherance thereof, (i) to relieve the stress and anxiety of their families or carers by providing and developing an integrated high quality service of care, facilities, accommodation and training for people with learning difficulties and/or learning disabilities and/or mental health issues, (ii) to provide care for people with learning difficulties and/or learning disabilities and/or mental health issues, in a manner which recognises their individual needs, interests, skills and abilities, (iii) to support families or carers of people with learning difficulties and/or learning disabilities and/or mental health issues, to enable them, where possible, to be sustained within a home environment and (iv) to promote recognition and acceptance within the community of people with learning difficulties and/or learning disabilities and/or mental health issues.

Constitutional objectives
4.1 The objects of the Company are:- (a) to provide persons with learning disabilities, mental health difficulties and/or related conditions with care and support, tailored to the needs of the individual, and focusing on t hat individual's wishes and preferences. The desired outcome for such individuals is assistance to lead the life they choose, with access to the best possible standard of physical care and emotional well-bei ng, meaningful employment and activity, and assistance to live as independently as possible. (b) to provide services that take account of the needs for carers of such individuals, recognising the importance of their wishes, and supporting them in their ca ring roles. (c) Founded wit hin the Jewish community and still providing faith-specific services to the Jewish population, Cosgrove Care also offers services to those outwith the Jewish community on an equal basis. and (d} to promote such similar charitable purposes, objects or inst itutions in such proportions and manner as the Trustees shall think fit. The expressions 'charitable purpose' or 'charitable object' shall mean a charitable purpose under section 7 of the 2005 Act which is also regarded as a charitable purpose in relation to the application of the Taxes Acts and a 'charitable institution' shall mean a charity in terms of the 2005 Act which is also regarded as a charity in relat ion to the application of the Taxes Acts, or a charity under the law of any other jurisdiction which is also regarded as a charity in relation to the application of the Taxes Acts, provided t hat nothing in these Articles shall authorise an application of the property of the Company other than in furtherance of a charitable purpose.
