02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The charity was established over 40years ago when a need was recognised to provide a transportation service for the elderly with health issues that have no means of attending hospital, GP and dental appointments. This continues to be a key service offered by Linlithgow Link and is provided by approximately 50 volunteers. Over subsequent years the charity has expanded its services which now include, befriending, Tuesday Group (an opportunity for clients to meet every week for games/arts and crafts/entertainment, coffee and cake) and Caring Cafe (an opportunity for clients with dementia and their carers to meet for entertainment, coffee and cake). These services offer companionship and support to older people in the community with the benefit of reducing isolation. In addition various day trips and special lunches are organised through out the year by a dedicated group of volunteers and committee members.
