02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Our purpose is to provide palliative and end of life care to people living with or affected by a life limiting illness and to extend our support to their loved ones. We serve a population of over 210,000 people living in Renfrewshire, providing free palliative care for adult patients while also supporting their families and carers. We work to ensure each receives expert, dignified and compassionate care. We deliver this at our 8-bed IPU in Paisley, through our work in the community with ACCORD@Home, and at our Renfrewshire Bereavement Network and patient and families in our Community Hub. We are partly funded by statutory funding but also by fundraising by retail, events, trusts and grants and bequeathed legacies and our investments portfolio. We employ specialist palliative care professionals and admin staff and also our bank of volunteers, to deliver and enable our care.
