02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
Venture Scotland was founded in November 1988. Over the years, our volunteers and staff have helped thousands of young people from across Scotland to change their lives using the outdoors and nature to promote physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. Our services are generally targeted at young adults who are facing challenges in their lives and are at a point in their lives where they want to change. however, we also work with people in recovery from substance misuse.

Constitutional objectives
4. PURPOSES The Company has been formed to benefit the community of people resident in Scotland (the “Community”), with the following purposes (the “Purposes”): 4.1 By the participation in outdoor activities, short residential trips and conservation work - (a) To advance the education and health of young people (b) To provide recreational facilities with the object of improving the life conditions of young people (c) To provide relief for young people in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage (d) To advance the understanding and appreciation of the natural environment among young people through responsible and positive engagement with the outdoors. 4.2 To use the charity’s learning with young people to meet the Purposes for others in the Community, provided always such work has no material impact on the work the charity does with young people and is approved by the Board on a case by case basis.
