What the charity exists to do
Glasgow Cathedral, is a congregation of the Church of Scotland. Its principal charitable purpose is the advancement of religion. It also contributes to the advancement of education, heritage, arts and culture, citizenship and community development, and the relief of those in need. The congregation's work rests on the constitutional position of the Church of Scotland. The Articles Declaratory describe the Church as a national Church with a distinctive call and duty to bring the ordinances of religion to the people in every parish of Scotland through a territorial ministry. Glasgow Cathedral fulfils that duty in its own parish, while also serving the wider city and nation and the many visitors who come through its doors. Continuing work of the Cathedral includes Public WorshipThe Sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated regularly. The Sacrament of Baptism, Marriage,Funeral and pastoral care.Glasgow Cathedral fulfils that duty in its own parish, while also serving the wider city.
