02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The Company is a charity and principal activity is the provision of support and relief to selected persons resident in the burgh of Alva by way of contributions and housing accommodation. The Foundation provides outings for the elderly over the summer months and hosts light lunches and sing-alongs in our Social Centre in Autumn and Winter. Provides special relief to families in need at Christmas and financial gifts to the elderly also at Christmas. We provide financial donations to organisations within the community. We provide accommodation for the elderly through our 26 dwellings in the Cochrane Estate a Social Centre within the estate is available for community use.

  • the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage

Constitutional objectives

5. The Objects are specifically restricted to the following:- 5.1 To provide for the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage particularly but not exclusively in the Burgh of Alva. and 5.2 To provide recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for persons in need particularly but not exclusively for those resident in the Burgh of Alva.
