02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

1. To relieve the needs of people who have a disability, encompassing any form of mental and/or physical disability, illness, 2. To provide facilities for recreation and leisure activities to people who need such facilities due to infirmity or disablement, aiming to improve their quality of life. 3. To alleviate unemployment through supportive employment services. 4. To relieve poverty, especially among disabled individuals. 5. To advance education, with particular focus on topics relevant to disability. 6. To promote training that enhances employable skills. 7. To support additional schemes and charitable projects.

Constitutional objectives

4 The company’s objects are to: (a) To relieve the need of people who have a disability (the word ‘disability when used in these articles, shall be deemed to include any form of mental and/or physical disability, illness or impairment). (b) To provide in the interests of social welfare facilities for recreation and other leisure time occupation available to people who have need of such facilities by reason of their infirmity or disablement with a view to improving their conditions of life. (c) To relieve unemployment for the public benefit in such ways as may be though fit, including assistance to find employment. (d) To relieve poverty, particularly among people with a disability. (e) To advance education and, in particular, with regard to matters which are relevant to disability and people who have a disability. (f) To promote training in skills of all kinds, particularly such skills as will assist individuals in obtaining paid employment. (g) To promote, establish, operate and/or support other schemes and projects of a charitable nature. (h) To promote and/or provide training in skills of all kinds, particularly such as will assist those who are substantially or permanently disabled by reason of age, ill health, poverty or other identified need or persons who assist those who are substantially or permanently disabled by reason of age, ill health, poverty or other identified need, in pursuing an independent life and their general integration with the community generally.
