02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The charity is set up to support vulnerable individuals within Dundee and the surrounding areas, by the provision of housing support, the distribution of surplus food (from the food sector) and the provision of furniture to those in need of furnishings.

Constitutional objectives

(a) to promote the health and welfare and to advance the education and skills of the inhabitants of Dundee and the surrounding areas by whatever means may be deemed appropriate and, without prejudice to the foregoing generality, to promote the relief of hardship and distress, without distinction as to race, age, sex or political or religious beliefs. (b) to take over, promote, provide for and operate such accommodation and other facilities as may be deemed necessary or appropriate for the relief or assistance of the single homeless in Dundee and the surrounding areas. (c) to advise on, promote, encourage or assist in the provision of or research into the health, welfare, social and charitable needs of the inhabitants of Dundee and the surrounding areas and to increase the awareness of the public in respect of all such matters. (d) to provide schemes and other initiatives (one) to promote, manage and effect for the benefit of the public as a whole the provision, development and improvement of facilities for waste minimisation, recycling initiatives and other environmental improvements which promote environmental sustainability and (two) to encourage educational projects into recycling and waste management for the education of the public.
