02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The trust is a registered Scottish Charity with educational and heritage preservation objectives. The Trust operates the Discover Carmichael Visitor Centre, where Scotland’s story is told through realistic wax model scenes and informative storyboard interpretation. The scenes also depict crafts and culture from the countryside in this district. The visitor centre has a ‘Carmichael Clan Room’ dedicated to the Carmichael Clan family history and the thousand-year period that the family has lived on the land. The Trust is set up to undertake activities and events and provide facilities that benefit the Parish of Carmichael and preserve its heritage.

Constitutional objectives
To provide for the permanent preservation for the benefit of the public generally and especially the inhabitants of the Parish of Carmichael and adjoining parishes in the County of Lnarkshire of lands and buildings of beauty and historic interest and, as regards lands, of ecological, agricultural or scientific importance, within the said Parishes, and generally to protect, preserve and improve the character and amenities of the said Parishes.
