02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
To provide a community programme of activities and support services for all ages and needs. These support the issues faced in the community with poverty and isolation facing many families and individuals. Youth activities were much needed in the area and this year saw a 8 plus along with a 16 to 24 groups set up. Kirkcaldy Foodbank along with Warm Space meals are provided, senior citizen weekly lunch club, monthly community meal and opening on Christmas Day all support the needs of the community. Grants are sought to run playgroup for two to three year olds, catering staff and all additional activities requested from the community. The centre is celebrating 60 years in its present position and 100 years since being established as Kirkcaldy Boys Club so it has evolved over the years but still very much in the Heart of the Community.

Constitutional objectives
4.1 To foster community spirit and promote the interests of the people of Kirkcaldy and environs through providing a focus for community, educational and social activity. 4.2 Providing and sustaining well-maintained, friendly, welcoming and accessible premises for local groups and organisations to rent or use for community, educational, recreational and social activity with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities are provided 4.3 Advancing citizenship and community development through providing and supporting opportunities for volunteering and civic responsibility through encouraging engagement of the Centre and Centre groups in a range of activities 4.4 Advancing education by providing and promoting the benefits of community and educational activity 4.5 Developing opportunities which may be beneficial to the general community and particularly vulnerable groups • Hosting or running activities and clubs which are relevant to the wants and needs of the children and young people of Kirkcaldy and environs and their families and which are open to all, and to undertake activities relevant to the ages of the children and young people which aim to: • Build their self-esteem and self-confidence • Develop their ability to manage personal & social relationships • Create learning and develop new skills • Build their capacity to consider risk and make reasoned decisions and take control • Develop a world view which widens horizons and invites social commitment
