02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
North Argyll House is a residential Home situated in Oban. The Home was established in 1955 by local people for the benefit of the elderly in the area. North Argyll House is registered with the Care Inspectorate for 24 residents and is a registered charity and non profit making organisation. The care and well being of our residents is at the forefront of our priorities. We strive to create a warm, safe welcome, promoting independence, dignity and a sense of belonging. We regularly evaluate and enhance our activities programme, offering a wide range of stimulating and enjoyable experiences, whilst offering respite areas for those who prefer simple peace and quiet. A new well being suite extension was completed early on this year and provides a place for chiropody, and health matters to be held in a private room. The room can also be used by families to have a private space with their loved ones. There is also a hairdressing salon and pamper room for our residents to use.

Constitutional objectives
2. The charitable purposes of the Company are the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage (including relief given by the provision of accommodation or care): 2.1 By offering care on an individual basis thus enabling each resident to retain personal dignity, make personal choices and care for themselves as long as they are physically and mentally able and willing to do so.
