02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The Glasgow Academicals’ War Memorial Trust supports The Glasgow Academy and advances education for young people. We provide a broad curriculum, co-curricular opportunities, and bursaries to widen access, helping pupils develop knowledge, confidence, and character. The school is integral to the wider community: staff share expertise in sport and education. for example, we work with Netball Scotland, Glasgow University, Strathclyde University, and the Western Tennis Club. Facilities are offered at reduced or free rates, and we fundraise for many charities. We also support initiatives like Thinkfour, a learning platform benefiting tens of thousands of young people. Through education, partnerships, community access, and charitable work, the Trust delivers clear public benefit and supports the wellbeing of pupils and the wider community.
