02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

Stewarton Annick Youth & Community Association (SAYCA) are a well-established community association who manage our community facility, organise activities and events within our centre including managing hall hire for the following: Lainshaw Lions childcare group (30 hours pw term time. 55 hours out of school). Community larder (3 hours pw). Foodbank (2 hour pw). Football (2 hours pw) Health and Wellbeing sessions(6 hours pw). Yoga & Pilates (2 hours pw)Boys Brigade (2 hours pw) as well as one off lets and other activities including birthday parties .The centre also hosts police and health clinics, band practice, etc. The centre is the community hub of our town where the vast majority of social activities take place with an average of around 700 visits per week. The centre builds strong relationships in and across communities. We host much of the communities’ meetings and events and are well used, thus helping more people reach their potential.

Constitutional objectives

4 The organisation is established for charitable purposes only, and in particular, the objects are: The objectives of the Stewarton Annick Youth & Community Association are to enhance the management and improvement of the Centre by developing the interior and exterior of the facility, opportunities for volunteering and employment, social inclusion, educational and leisure provision all of which make Stewarton Annick Youth & Community Association an organisation that its residents and users alike are proud of and want to become involved with. Purposes 4.1 Promote the provision of recreational facilities and organise recreational activities with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended.. and 4.2 To Promote and work towards the advancement of citizenship or community development for the benefit of Stewarton and its surrounding areas. and 4.3 To make representations to and to cooperate with the local authority and voluntary sector with the aim of progressing the primary purpose of 4.1. and 4.4 To consult with the users and residents of Stewarton and surrounding areas to inform practice, make alterations and provide activities that the organisation can competently involve itself in with a view to progressing the primary purpose in 4.1. and 4.5 Without prejudice to the terms of 4.1 and 4.4 above, to promote all and any benefits to the Stewarton community and surrounding areas:
