02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The charity was established by a Trust Deed on 21 July 1972. The principal objective of the Trust is to help charitable causes as directed in the Deed of Trust and as determined by the trustees. This is carried out by giving grants, usually to other charitable organisations.

  • any other purpose that may reasonably be regarded as analogous to any of the preceding purposes

Constitutional objectives

For any one or more of the following purposes but only in so far as they are of a charitable nature, namely:- (a) for the advancement and improvement of medical research, and for other services connected with medicine which are of a charitable nature, are beneficial to the community, and are not provided out of funds made available by central or local government, (b) for the benefit of aged or poor or disabled or handicapped persons, (c) for the maintenance, education and upbringing of necessitious children and the prevention of cruelty to children. (d) for the social work and home and foreign missions of the Church of Scotland and other religious bodies conducted according to Christian principles, and (e) for assistance to sailors and lifeboatmen and their depend3ents, in necessitous circumstances. For such other charitable purposes as they may from time to time select.
