02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The objectives of the charity are to provide counselling and family mediation services throughout the Western Isles. This is achieved by the provision of personal counselling and family mediation services, through volunteer counsellors and mediators throughout the Western Isles.

Constitutional objectives
(a) to promote, provide, develop and co-ordinate a counselling service throughout the Western Isles Islands Area for those with relationship, alcohol, bereavement or other personal problems. (b) to promote, provide, develop and co-ordinate a mediation service throughout the Western Isles Islands area for divorcing or separating couples, whether or not involved in any court proceedings, and for the children of such persons with the object of assisting, so far as is possible, in amicable resolution and disputes arising from the divorce or separation in respect to the future care and welfare of the said children, in appreciation and understanding of the problems and the interests of such children in adapting to and coping with their changed situations and circumstances and in any other way whatsoever. (c) to promote a comprehensive and co-ordinated community service in the Western Isles designed to meet the special needs of such persons and to promote counselling and mediation with the objects specified at 3(a) and (b) above (d) to promote and encourage co-operation with and amongst and support for courts, statutory and voluntary bodies and individuals whatsoever and whomsoever involved in any way with relationship, alcohol bereavement or personal problems (e) to work and campaign for the understanding and improvement of the rights and interests of such persons.
