02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The charity is set up to provide educational advancement by provision of further & higher education bursaries, bursaries for those serving apprenticeships or the like and postgraduate scholarships. In addition, it is set up to provide grants for educational travel, grants for the disabled and prizes to secondary pupils. Bursaries, scholarships and grants from the main trust are available to those ordinarily resident in Troon, Loans & Southwoods. Bursaries & scholarships are awarded subject to established conditions & procedures. The charity provides application forms for bursaries & scholarships. Completed forms & evidence of progress is required prior to payment. Other grants are dealt with on informal application. The charity is also set up to provide funding for the Marr Educational Resources Centre. However this is now closed & it is not know whether a new Centre will be opened.
