02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

We are set up to provide a recorded copy of The East Kilbride News, The Scottish Farmer and our own Monthly magazine for the visually impaired in East Kilbride and District. We have volunteers who read the original documents and other volunteers who put them onto usb sticks and send out to our list of listeners.

Constitutional objectives

The Charitable objective for which the Association has been established is to relieve the blind and partially sighted of the East Kilbride and District and in furtherance thereof: (a) Primarily to produce and distribute digitally recorded extracts of local newspapers and other publications, having previously secured permission from the Publishers, and in accordance with current copyright legislation. (b) To liaise with other Voluntary and Community Organisations in improving the lives of local residents with varying degrees of visual impairment and isolation due to experiencing a range of Physical and/or mental difficulties. (c) To undertake other activities that further the objectives of the association.
