Constitutional objectives

The Trustees shall hold the Trust Fund and the income thereof to pay, apply or lend the same in their absolute discretion to or in furtherance of any of the following objects, each being for the benefit of the public:- a. in restoring, cleaning, renovating, improving, and conserving and in the carrying out of all works calculated to achieve the restoration, cleaning, renovation, improvement and conservation of the Hanseatic Booth and adjacent small harbour at Symbister on the island of Whalsay, Shetland Islands. (b) in creating and maintaining within the Hanseatic Booth an information and exhibition centre for the benefit of the inhabitants of the island of Whalsay in particular and the Shetland Islands in general and of visitors to the island of Whalsay. (c) in publishing leaflets, books or other items dealing with the Hanseatic Booth, the adjacent small harbour and the island of Whalsay for the information and education of the public. (d) in organising lectures and meetings within the Hanseatic Booth for the purpose of informing and educating the public about the history of the Booth and harbour and the island of Whalsay. and (e) for such or purpose or purposes charitable in law as the Trustees shall from time to time determine: Declaring that any loans as aforesaid may be made with or without security and upon such reasonable terms as to interest and repayment as the Trustees think fit.
