02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The purpose of the Trust is to give financial help to past and present members of both the Edinburgh Academy and Fettes College, to enable them to advance their education or professional training beyond the point at which public funds or university scholarships are available, or when private or family sources alone are not quite adequate for the purpose. The Watt Trust has supported a number of projects over the years and welcomes applications for any kind of financial need applicants may experience as they complete their education or training. The projects may be pioneering or mainstream, but the underlying criteria the Watt Trust relies on to award its grants is that of genuine financial need.
