02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
We are set up as a lunch club to provide a fresh, healthy meal of homemade soup and sandwiches for anyone over 60 in our area who would like to access our club. We are funded by grant and donations and make a small charge for the meal. We also provide entertainment and a variety if activities designed to alleviate social isolation and loneliness. We meet weekly for 4 hours. Our key aims are. to provide a safe environment for older people to meet and interact. to offer access to a shared meal. to provide transport to support safe travel. to provide a variety of entertainment, activities and fun to support positive mental and physical health. to foster friendship and companionship. to promote intergenerational interaction and to give access to new experiences.

Constitutional objectives
The objects of the Day Centre are to provide aid, assistance and support for elderly persons residing within the environs of Pencaitland, where such provision is in the interests of social welfare, and is made with the object of improving the conditions of life of elderly persons within the earea of benefit by:- 1 promoting and running appropriate services both in the Day Centre and the community. 2 making representations on behalf of elderly people. 3 making available information to, for and on behalf of elderly people. 4 encouraging training for those working with elderly people. 5 bringing together representatives of statutory and voluntary organisations and individuals.
