02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The LHM's principal objects are to relieve exclusion and to alleviate the living conditions of those vulnerable to homelessness as well as those suffering from social isolation in Glasgow by providing a range of services meeting their varied needs thus enabling them to find ways to reintegrate into mainstream society. All this is encapsulated in the following mission statement - Our mission is to reduce the harm caused by homelessness, social exclusion and poverty in Glasgow by providing a safe, welcoming place where service users can meet in a non judgement environment and benefit from Food, Activities, Chaplaincy, Education and Support (FACES) services.

Constitutional objectives

As a response to God's love for all humanity and within a Christian context, the relief of exclusion and to alleviate the conditions of life amongst homeless people and those vulnerable to homelessness, of any gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnic origin, faith or denomination and whether able-bodied or disabled in the local Authority Area comprised in the City of Glasgow, by providing a range of services meeting their varied needs, thus enabling them to find ways to reintegrate into mainstream housing provision, to make fuller use of their time, access job training, seek employment and enjoy better mental and physical health
