02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The charity is set up to maintain and preserve Eilean Donan Castle for the benefit of the public and to enable the public to have access to it. In addition, the trust seeks to promote the education of the public in the heritage of Scotland, including the clan system. The trust does this by allowing visitors to access the castle for an admission fee. These fees allow the trust to carry out a rolling programme of repairs and maintenance to ensure the castle is maintained in good order.

Constitutional objectives
The objects for which the trust was established are:- a)To preserve establishments and monuments of historic importance in the ownership of the trust for the benefit of the public and to enable the public to have access to them b)To promote the education of the public in the heritage of Scotland including the clan system by the dissemination of literature and the preservation and support of arts and crafts. c) To endow as the trustees see fit, such charitable museums, theatres, concert halls, etc, and an advance public education in the arts.
