The charity is set up to provide financial support to other charitable bodies. It does this by providing donations to such charitable bodies as are selected by the trustees on an annual basis.

Constitutional objectives
The Trust was established 'for such charitable bodies or for such charitable purposes (hereinafter called 'the beneficiaries') at such times and in such manner, in such proportions and upon such conditions as they (the Trustees) in their sole discretion may think fit. Declaring that the beneficiaries may include one or more of the bodies specified in the First Schedule annexed and signed by me as relative hereto if, while and so long as such body or bodies have charitable status, but this declaration shall in no way prejudice or restrict the discretionary powers conferred upon the Trustees.? The bodies listed in the First Schedule to the Deed of Trust are: Aberdour Orphanage. Quarriers Homes. Bridge of Weir. Royal Society for Relief of Indigent Gentlewomen of Scotland (Indigent Gentlewomen?s Fund). Princess Louise Scottish Hospital for Limbless Sailors and Soldiers (Erskine Hospital). Royal National Lifeboat Institution (Glasgow Branch). The National Trust for Scotland. The Scottish Society for the Protection of Wild Birds . The Thistle Foundation. City of Glasgow Police Benevolent Fund. Association of Parents and Friends of Spastics (or such similar body). Greenock Working Girls Club. The Inverkip Society, Greenock. and the British Empire Cancer Campaign for Research.
