02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
To establish an annual festival and series of concerts providing both local and visiting audiences with top quality performances given by artists who may not yet have major careers To develop imaginative and interesting programs which feature a variety of performers in different permutations To explore unknown and familiar composers and their works as well as the known and familiar. Musical excellence to be guiding principal in assembling programs To encourage a relaxed and stimulating atmosphere not only through fine music but also through the enjoyment of food and wine after the concerts, and with this enjoyment to remove artist/audience barriers To exploit fully the charm and intimacy of the area's buildings and the beauty of the surroundings To remunerate our musicians sufficiently but to keep ticket prices to an affordable level, bearing in mind that we have a limited catchment area and that many of our audience are retired people
