02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

The object of the trust is the protection of bird life in Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Particular emphasis is placed upon the establishment and maintenance of sanctuaries and places of protection for birds, including doves and pigeons and migrating birds, within or near cities and other populous ares, in order to give as many people as possible the benefit of seeing, hearing and enjoying the wide variety of bird life within the country or migrating through it. The income generated from the investment portfolio is used to provide grants to charities who meet these criteria.
