02 Purpose and work

What the charity exists to do

South Ronaldsay Community Association is set up to benefit the people of South Ronaldsay by supporting community, social, educational, recreational and leisure activities. We help provide and manage community facilities at the Community School in St Margaret’s Hope, making space available for local groups, residents and activities that improve community life. We do this by working with local people, voluntary groups, public bodies and other community organisations. managing bookings and access to the building. supporting local events, fundraising and activities. and ensuring the facilities are used fairly, safely and for the benefit of the wider community.

Constitutional objectives

(a)To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of South Ronaldsay without distinction of political, religious or other opinions, by associating the Local Authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants In a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interest of social welfare, recreation and leisure time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants. (b) To secure the establishment of a community centre and co-operate with the local statutory authority in the maintenance and management of the Community School, For activities promoted by the Association in furtherance of the above objects or any of them.
