02 Purpose and work
What the charity exists to do
The organisation exists to serve the Community by way of providing the use of rooms for hire at the local Community School (owned & operated by Orkney Island Council) and associated services facilitated by net revenue generated from said hire. The organisation also runs a small shop to facilitate the recycling via resale of school-wear, clothing and sundry items. The net revenue gained is then reinvested in the Community by way of events, small grants and similar charitable operations.

(a)To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of South Ronaldsay without distinction of political, religious or other opinions, by associating the Local Authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants In a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interest of social welfare, recreation and leisure time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants. (b) To secure the establishment of a community centre and co-operate with the local statutory authority in the maintenance and management of the Community School, For activities promoted by the Association in furtherance of the above objects or any of them.
